Venezuela detained three US residents, two Spaniards and a Czech nationwide over an alleged plot to destabilise the South American nation, the federal government mentioned on Saturday. Inside Minister Diosdado Cabello mentioned the overseas nationals have been being held on suspicion of planning an assault on President Nicolas Maduro and his authorities. The arrests come amid heightened tensions between Venezuela and Western powers over Venezuela’s disputed July 28 presidential election, which the nation’s opposition accuses Maduro of stealing.
