PALANPUR: 9 labourers have been buried alive when free soil caved in on them at a building web site in Jasalpur village of Mehsana‘s Kadi taluka on Saturday.
The labourers have been digging the bottom for building of an underground water tank on the manufacturing facility web site when the earth all of a sudden caved in, official sources stated.
Mehsana superintendent of police Tarun Duggal confirme to TOI that 9 folks had died and one labourer survived.
“There was a heap of excavated mud which all of a sudden gave in and the labourers acquired buried,” Duggal stated.
Sources stated that the development of a manufacturing facility was happening since 2002.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the deaths and introduced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM Nationwide Reduction Fund to the subsequent kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to all these injured.
“The accident attributable to the collapse of a wall in Mehsana, Gujarat, is extraordinarily tragic. My deepest condolences to those that have misplaced their family members.
