NEW DELHI: NIA Saturday performed raids at 26 places throughout 5 states in a case associated to Pakistan-based jihadist group Jaish-e-Muhammed‘s conspiracy to radicalise and recruit people and inspire them to hold out assaults at a number of locations throughout India.
One individual – Sheikh Sultan Salah Uddin Ayubi, alias Ayubi – was arrested by NIA and a number of other suspects detained for questioning in the course of the searches that lined premises in Goalpara (Assam); Aurangabad, Jalna and Malegaon in Maharashtra; Meerut and Saharanpur in UP; Delhi; and Baramulla, Pulwama and Ramban in J&Okay.
Assam DGP G P Singh advised TOI that 10 individuals had been detained within the raids at Goalpara. “They’re being questioned by the NIA.”
NIA, in an announcement after the raids, mentioned the suspects whose premises had been searched Saturday, “had been engaged in radicalising people” and related to JeM. They had been allegedly concerned in disseminating terror-related propaganda and radicalising and recruiting youth right into a Jamaat outfit impressed by JeM. “These suspects had been concerned in motivating youth to commit violent terror assaults throughout India,” NIA mentioned, citing findings of its investigations. NIA groups claimed to have seized incriminating paperwork, digital gadgets, pamphlets and magazines.
