The New Jersey Devils have signed the restricted free agent on Thursday to a three-year, $12-million deal, Sportsnet can verify.
The 22-year-old centre, from Carbonear, N.L., had 20 objectives and 13 assists in 82 video games final season. That was down from his second-year totals of 27 objectives and 29 assists from the earlier years.
Mercer has 64 objectives and 67 assists for 131 factors in 246 profession video games for the Devils.
New Jersey chosen the QMJHL graduate 18th general within the 2020 NHL Draft.
