Former Lok Sabha MP and BJP chief Arjun Singh alleged {that a} group of individuals threw stones, hurled bombs and fired a number of gunshots at his office-cum-residence Meghna Extra in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas at round 8.30 a.m. on Friday (October 4, 2024.)
Mr. Singh claimed that he sustained a splinter wound throughout the incident. In a tweet accompanied by a video, Mr. Singh stated, “This morning, whereas everybody was occupied with Navratri Puja, a number of jihadis and goons, underneath the safety of Namit Singh — an accused in NIA circumstances and son of an area @AITCofficial Councillor — attacked my office-cum-residence, Mazdoor Bhawan, with the native police wanting on.”
He claimed that police have been mere spectators because the assailants brandished firearms brazenly. “Round 15 bombs have been thrown, and greater than a dozen rounds have been fired by these individuals,” he stated. PTI couldn’t independently confirm the authenticity of the video shared by Mr. Singh. Eyewitnesses claimed that smoke engulfed Jagatdal’s Meghna Extra due to hurling of bombs.
An officer from Jagatdal police station stated there have been no confirmed accidents and that senior police officers, together with further forces, have been on the scene to conduct an investigation. Mr. Singh, who beforehand switched allegiance from the Trinamool Congress to the BJP, misplaced to TMC’s Partha Bhowmick within the current basic elections.
In the meantime, Jagatdal MLA Somenath Shyam claimed that Mr. Singh had himself fired 4 rounds. Mr. Shyam stated, “After shedding his political footing, he’s blaming the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for issues he created himself, together with different native conflicts unrelated to our get together.”
In a publish on X, BJP chief Suvendu Adhikari stated, “This morning, outstanding goons & famend anti-socials related to the ruling Trinamool Congress Occasion attacked the house of senior BJP Chief & former MP; Shri Arjun Singh, in Bhatpara; North 24 Parganas district. They even hurled crude bombs. As normal the Police performed the position of mute spectator and did not do a lot to discourage the criminals.”
He added that the video footage was sufficient to determine and arrest the culprits for this heinous crime. “I hope DGP@WBPolice will a minimum of attempt to use the visuals for nabbing these miscreants,” he stated.
