Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fired defence minister Yoav Gallant, saying there’s a “disaster of belief” between them.
Netanyahu mentioned in an announcement that his belief in Gallant had “eroded” in current months.
Overseas Minister Israel Katz will exchange Gallant, Netanyahu added.
Gallant posted on social media that the “safety of the state of Israel was and can all the time stay the mission of my life”.
In an announcement, Netanyahu mentioned: “Within the midst of a struggle, greater than ever, full belief is required between the prime minister and the minister of defence.
“Sadly, though within the first months of the marketing campaign there was such belief and there was very fruitful work, over the past months this belief cracked between me and the minister of protection.”
Netanyahu mentioned that “important gaps have been found between me and Gallant within the administration of the marketing campaign”.
“These gaps have been accompanied by statements and actions that contradict the choices of the federal government and the choices of the cupboard,” he added.
Netanyahu mentioned he “made many makes an attempt to bridge these gaps, however they saved getting wider”.
Gallant solely posted a brief message on X, stating that the safety of Israel “was and can all the time stay the mission of my life”.
Katz will succeed Gallant as defence minister, whereas Gideon Sa’ar turns into the brand new overseas minister, Netanyahu mentioned.
