Ethel Kennedy, a human rights advocate and the widow of Robert F Kennedy, has died aged 96, her household says.
A matriarch of considered one of America’s most well-known political dynasties, she died on Wednesday after struggling a stroke per week in the past, the member of the family mentioned.
Her grandson, Joe Kennedy, posted a press release on-line to announce the passing of “our superb grandmother”.
She was by her husband Robert F Kennedy’s aspect when the Democratic presidential candidate was fatally shot in a Los Angeles resort kitchen in 1968. 5 years earlier, her brother-in-law, President John F Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

He described her as a “religious Catholic”, including: “We’re comforted in understanding she is reunited with the love of her life, our father, Robert F Kennedy; her kids David and Michael; her daughter-in-law Mary; her grandchildren Maeve and Saoirse; and her great-grandchildren Gideon and Josie.
“Please hold her in your hearts and prayers.”
